Director Biography – E Del Mundo

Recipient of the Philippines National Commission for Culture and the Arts’ Ani ng Dangal Award for Cinema, filmmaker E del Mundo backs up her youthful vigour with an MFA in Film, receiving the degree with the highest honours and under the scholarship of venerated filmmaker Brett Ratner.

E bagged the Best Director Award at the 13th Cinemalaya Film Festival for her short film, MANONG NG PA-ALING. The film also received its international premiere at the 32nd Fribourg International Film Festival in Switzerland and won the Jury Prize last March. The film competed in LA Shorts, Busan International Shorts and many others. E was among the selected few to participate at the prestigious Women In Film’s Mentor Circle in Los Angeles, which focuses on talented, underrepresented emerging directors from the globe.

Her latest VR project, The Warship was with the pioneering selection for the La Biennale di Venezia College Cinema which commenced at the 64th Venice Film Festival. In 2018, E is slated to direct her country’s first LGBTQ++ centric comedy series entitled MANILENNIALS. She is also currently developing her debut feature film, THANATOS with the SouthEast Asian Film Lab and the TorinoFilmLab.

E del Mundo is a diving aficionado, making sure the ocean is featured and discussed in her films.
